Roscommon's disposable income rates one of the lowest in the country

According to the County Incomes and Regional GDP 2021, people in Roscommon had on average a disposable income of €20,477, -16% lower than the national average of €24,376. It was the fourth lowest in the country and the lowest in Connacht. Roscommon's 2021 percentage of disposable income was a decrease on the 2020 figure which stood at -13.8% or €20,160 of the then national average.
People living in Dublin had the highest disposable income at 14.7% higher than the national average and up 3.8% since 2020. The average disposable income for people living in Dublin was €27,958 in 2021.
Donegal continued to have the lowest level of disposable income at an average of €19,253 per person in 2021, 21 per cent below the state average.
The average disposable income per person in Mayo was €21,848 in 2021, €21,207 in Sligo, €23,495 in Galway, and , €21,169 in Leitrim.
Statistician in the CSO's National Accounts Analysis and Globalisation Division, Aoife Crowe said disposable income in Dublin City and County remained the largest in the state in 2021, accounting for €40 billion of the state total, and an 8.6% rise from 2020.
“The Midlands region continued to be the lowest in terms of disposable income. The income of the region accounted for €6.7 billion overall and was 10.9% below the state average per person,” she said.
