The CEO of the Ballymore property group, Sean Mulryan, has accepted an invitation to attend next Monday’s plenary meeting of Roscommon County Council to outline his company’s masterplan to develop Athlone as Ireland’s first green city.

Cathaoirleach of Roscommon County Council Liam Callaghan confirmed this morning, Monday, that Mr Mulryan and company representatives would attend the January meeting of the local authority.

The company CEO, who is a native of Oran, will be joined by his colleagues Linda Mulryan-Condron, David Killion, Professor Brian McGrath and Josephine Feehily.

At the December plenary meeting of the council, Fianna Fáil councillor Larry Brennan proposed that elected members invite Ballymore to the council chamber to present it vision for the development of Athlone and what benefits it may have for County Roscommon.

Ballymore’s blueprint for Athlone is to develop a new, sustainable city designed to accommodate a population of 100,000 by the year 2040.

“I am now delighted that Ballymore have accepted our invitation," said Cllr Callaghan. "This is a very exciting proposal for Athlone and the region in general and I intend to set aside a large part of the meeting for this presentation so members and officials can engage fully with Mr Mulryan and his team."
