Summary of the Roscommon local elections

A summary so far of what’s happening in the three Roscommon Local Electoral Areas (LEAs).
Roscommon LEA – six seats Elected - First count Paschal Fitzmaurice (FF) and Marty McDermott (FF).
Now awaiting the fourth count.
It’s expected that Tony Waldron (NP), Nigel Dineen (II), Larry Brennan (FF) and Gareth Scahill (FG) will take the other four seats without any danger.
Athlone LEA – six seats Elected - First count Emer Kelly (NP), Tony Ward (NP), John Naughten (FG).
Third Count- Elected Laurence Fallon (NP).
Now awaiting the fifth count.
It’s expected that John Keogh (FF) will win the fifth seat but the mother of all battles is brewing for the final seat between 18-year-old candidate Sam Brooks (SF), James Murray (FF) and Dominic Connolly (FG).
Boyle LEA - six seats Elected - Third count Valerie Byrne (NP).
Elected - Fifth count Leah Cull (SF) Now awaiting the sixth count.
It’s expected that the next three seats will be taken by Micheal Frain (NP), Sean Moylan (FF) and Tom Crosby (NP).
The fight for the final seat is expected to be between two Fine Gael candidates, outgoing councillor Liam Callaghan and newcomer, Dympna Daly-Finn.
