Time extension granted on EROC application

The developer seeking to expand the emergency reception and orientation centre (EROC) in Ballaghaderreen has been given a further three months to provide the further information the council required.
A decision on the controversial application, which was submitted on December 23rd 2024, had been due in February, but the council sought eleven points of further information from Next Week & Co Ltd. The council’s request for further information was issued on February 25th, with the company having six months to respond.
According to documents uploaded to the council’s eplanning website, the company made the request for further time, a three month extension, on August 15th. This was granted by the council, with the deadline now extended to November 24th.
Next Week & Co Ltd is seeking planning permission for the construction of a two storey extension to the Abbeyfeld Hotel EROC to provide additional accommodation, with a single storey corridor link to the existing EROC. The application is also seeking an Astro turf pitch and a play area at the site.
According to the planning documents, the new accommodation would consist of 18 bedrooms and a general purpose room. The EROC has been in operation since 2017.
