Tributes paid to beloved local shopkeeper

Heartfelt tributes have been paid following the passing of a well known Ballaghaderreen shopkeeper.
Maureen Mulligan (née Burke), Sligo Road and The Square, Ballaghaderreen and formerly of The Demesne, Loughglynn, County Roscommon, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 24th, with her loving family by her side in the compassionate care of the doctors, nurses and team of the Hawthorne Ward at St Vincent's Private Hospital, Dublin.
Alongside her husband, retired Roscommon County Councillor, Michael, Maureen ran the well known shop, P Mulligan’s hardware store, on The Square in Ballaghaderreen.

Tributes have been paid to Maureen, including from local politicians and members of the Oireachtas.
Predeceased by her parents Mick and Kathleen, brother Michael, niece Catherine and her nephew Jonathan, she will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her heartbroken family, her husband Michael, children Ciaran, Graniá, Claire and Michael, grandchildren, sisters, brother, son-in-law, daughters-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours, customers and many friends.
Maureen will repose in The Sharkey Funeral Home, Ballaghaderreen on Friday from 5pm until 7.30pm. Removal from the funeral home will take place on Saturday at 1.30pm to St Nathy’s Cathedral, Ballaghaderreen arriving for Mass of the Resurrection at 2pm, followed by interment in Kilcolman Cemetery.
