The Food Safety Authority of Ireland has confirmed that two County Roscommon businesses were issued with closure notices in March.

The orders were issued to China Palace, 11 Main Street, Roscommon Town, and Yomari Foods Limited, Main Street in Boyle.

Both closure orders have since been lifted.

China Palace was issued with a closure notice on March 26th as a result of “inadequate pest control procedures.”

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland reported that there was evidence of a rodent infestation in a room which houses the staff toilet, staff storage and laundry facilities. A dead rat was observed in a rat trap while numerous rat droppings were observed behind a washing machine.

The FSAI lifted the closure order on April 1st.

Boyle takeaway Yomari Foods Limited was issued a closure notice on March 19th.

The FSAI said the takeaway’s drainage facilities were inadequate and not designed to avoid the risk of contamination.

The report added that drains in the external yard were located directly outside the kitchen door and were blocked, while foul wastewater and food debris were overflowing throughout the yard. The blocked drain also resulted in the ponding of stagnant wastewater throughout the yard and around refuse bins, which had to be accessed by staff members.

The FSAI lifted the closure order on March 21st.

Overall, there were seven closure notices issued nationwide last month.
