Watch as County Roscommon group begin 165km walk for Palestine

Sabina Higgins joined the first steps of the walk as members of the Boyle Palestine Solidarity Group began their eight-day journey along the National Famine Way.
Sabina Higgins was in attendance for the launch of the Boyle Palestine Solidarity Group’s 165km walk along the National Famine Way at Strokestown Park House this morning.
A large crowd gathered for the launch that featured speeches from Jim Callery, founder of the National Famine Museum, Sherin Alsabbagh, a Palestinian speaker and Mary Gallagher, member of the Boyle Palestine Solidarity Group.
Inspired by the 1847 famine walk of the Strokestown tenants, this group will retrace that historical path to Dublin Docklands, where they will be welcomed on August 9th by the Palestinian Ambassador to Ireland, at the poignant site of the Famine Statues - a stark reminder of the ongoing famine in Gaza.
Over €20,000 has been raised for the walk and donations can be made online at Chuffed.org- National Famine Way for Palestine.
