The family of 87-year-old Liam Farrell, whose body was exhumed today, Friday, as part of a Garda cold case investigation, say they won't give up until they find out what happened to their father.

A cold case team is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding Mr Farrell's suspicious death at his home in Roosky six years ago.

He was found bloodied and bruised by family members at the back door of his house on January 12th 2020. His family firmly believes he was assaulted before suffering a heart attack.

The Farrell family spoke to the media today, Friday, after their late father was exhumed at Bornacoola cemetery in Leitrim by members of the Garda Technical Bureau.

A post-mortem will now be carried out on Mr Farrell's remains, the results of which will remain confidential for operational reasons.

"We don’t have a magic ball but the next chapter is going to be revealed," said his son Willie at the press briefing outside the cemetery.

The family also renewed their appeal to those who may have any information to come forward to assist the investigation into their father’s death.
