It will be thirty years ago today since journalist, Veronica Guerin, was murdered by Dublin criminals for her reporting in the Sunday Independent.
As part of her work she set up the convicted drugs criminal, John Traynor, so well-known local photographer and her newspaper colleague Brian Farrell could capture him on camera.
Sadly, this was the last photograph ever taken of Veronica. She was murdered while sitting in her car at traffic lights 10 days later on June 26th 1996.
One of the only two pictures Brian took of the journalist, the previous image now features on her headstone at the request of her mother.
Sunday Miscellany on RTÉ Radio 1, will broadcast a piece Brian wrote “Photographing Veronica” this Sunday at 9.10 am..
