Wildlife park comes to rescue of malnourished wildcat found in Roscommon

A serval is a wild small cat native to Africa.

A wildlife park in Wexford has come to the rescue of a malnourished African wildcat found in Roscommon in December.

There were a number of initial sightings of the exotic animal wandering in the Strokestown area late last year.

It’s understood that the person who found it in an emaciated state handed it over to the relevant authorities. 

The wildcat is now doing very well in the expert care of Secret Valley Wildlife Park in Wexford.

It’s understood that the wildcat is a Serval, a wild small cat native to Africa, and very prevalent in sub-Saharan countries.
