ATHLEAGUE

CONGRATULATIONS: Athleague Camogie Club would like to congratulate underage star, Ava Lynch — a TY student at Mercy College, Roscommon — who has reached the regional finals of the Junk Kouture competition alongside two of her classmates with an entry entitled “Twisted Tails”. Ava is the model. The club would like to wish the team the best of luck in the finals at the Helix Centre, Dublin, on March 6th.

GOOD LUCK: The club would like to wish the Roscommon junior camogie panel, especially Athleague players Rachel Fitzmaurice, Jane Horan, Tara Naughton and Aideen O’Brien, the best of luck in their opening Division Three League game away to Tyrone on Saturday next.

COMMISERATIONS: Hard luck to Tara O’Brien and Ella Lynch, who were members of the Mercy College senior camogie team that were beaten in their All-Ireland Senior B Colleges’ final on Saturday.

INDOOR TRAINING: The final session of the six-week fitness programme for our U-14 and U-16 players finishes in Athleague Community Centre on Thursday. The club would like to thank senior player, Niamh Conway, who put the players through their paces for the six weeks.

BOYLE

NORTHERN CUP: Boyle had a great start to the year with a 2-21 to 2-9 win over Michael Galveys in the Northern Cup. The result puts Boyle through to the final against Castlerea (details to be confirmed).

CONGRATULATIONS: The club congratulates Luke Glennon and his DCU team on their win over UCD in the Sigerson Cup final, and Daniel Casey who played with the UCD team that won the Colleges’ Intermediate Football Championship last.

NATIONAL CLUB DRAW TICKETS: The club is currently selling the annual National Club Draw tickets. They can be purchased through the Boyle GAA Club app or from club coaches. There are some great prizes to be won. Every cent will come back to the club. Support would be appreciated.

CASTLEREA ST. KEVIN’S

LOTTO: Lucky dip winners in the recent draw were Seán Duignan, John and Jacqueline Higgins, Michael and Ailish McDermott, Karl Freyne, and Caroline, Jacob, Edward and Grace Mole, The jackpot for the next draw in Doherty’s stands at €13,700.

MICHAEL GLAVEYS

AWARDS NIGHT: The annual awards night takes place on Saturday, February 27th, in the Three Counties. There will be food and entertainment on the night. Tickets are available from club officers.

NORTH WEST CUP: Hard luck to the senior men’s footballers who lost out to Boyle, 2-15 to 2-4, in the preliminary semi-final of the North West Championship Cup in Ballinlough on Saturday.

WELL DONE DYLAN: Well done to Dylan Ruane who played for Roscommon during their excellent Division Two League victory over Monaghan on Sunday last.

SHANNON GAELS

50/50 DRAW: Last week’s winner was Colm McHugh who won €740. The weekly draw takes place next Sunday evening on Facebook. Make sure to play online on the Shannon Gaels App or grab an envelope from any local business.

SHOOTING STARS: Anyone who has a child interested in joining Shannon Gaels or knows of anyone wishing to join the club should contact Alan at 086 3855334. The Shooting Stars programme takes place between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. every Friday in the complex in Carrick.

NATIONAL CLUB DRAW: The club is currently selling annual club draw tickets. Tickets cost €15 and can be purchased from coaches, players and club officers. They are available on the club app. Every cent comes back to the club.

REGISTRATION: As teams return to training in the coming weeks, players must be registered on www.foireann.ie. If anybody is having difficulty getting their registration done, please contact Caroline Creighton for GAA and Fiona Dunne for LGFA.

ST. BARRY’S

DINNER DANCE: The club will celebrate an epic 2024, which saw league and championship successes for its adult teams, at a celebration dinner dance in the Abbey Hotel on Saturday, March 29th. Tickets will be available soon.

CLUB APP: The club has recently set up a new Club app, via the Clubspot website. Look up the St. Barry's GFC Facebook page for links on Apple and Google Play stores to download the app. This will be the central hub for St. Barry’s news. Membership, which is now due, will also be paid through the app.

SYMPATHY: The club extends its sympathy to the Colligan family, Scramogue, on the passing of John Colligan, Slatta, last week.

ST. FAITHLEACH’S

25 CARD GAME: A 25 card game takes place every Tuesday in the clubhouse at 8.30 p.m.. A separate game for beginners takes place every Tuesday in February at 8.30 p.m.. All are welcome.

MEDAL PRESENTATION: A special thanks to Ellen Irwin, Marie Kelly and Diarmuid Murtagh for coming along to present medals to the U-12 boys of 2024, U-14 girls for 2022, 2023 and 2024, the U-16 girls of 2023, and Féile 2024. Seán Cox was also presented with a club jersey as a mark of gratitude for all his hard work with the underage girls.

REGISTRATION NIGHT: A registration night will take place on Friday, February 21st, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. for all age groups in the clubhouse. Volunteers are still needed. Contact Steve Smith or any committee member for information.

CONGRATULATIONS: It was a historic weekend in the Primrose and Blue for Diarmuid Murtagh against Monaghan as he took his overall Roscommon tally to 19-423, making him the top scorer of all time for the Roscommon senior football team. Diarmuid is a dedicated professional and role model to the youth in St. Faithleach’s and the wider GAA community. Many congratulations to Diarmuid from everyone in St. Faithleach’s.

ST. MICHAEL’S

CLUB MEMBERS NIGHT: There will be a quiz in Clancy’s Bar, Knockvicar, on Sunday, March 16th, which will be followed by music and dancing. There will be no admission fee. Donations are welcome for the Ardcarne Park Development Committee after its recent efforts to help those who were without power. There will be buckets on the night.

FIRST TWO-POINTER: Well done to Mark Heslin who became the first St. Michael’s player to raise an orange flag with a two-pointer against Éire Óg in the Northern Championship game at Loughglynn on Saturday.

CONGRATULATIONS: The club congratulates Kyle Guckian who made his debut for the intermediate football team last weekend. The club also congratulates ladies’ player Una McGuinness and her husband Shane on the recent birth of their daughter Anna — a younger sister for Emma.

ST. RONAN’S

LOTTO: There was no winner of the lotto jackpot in last weekend’s draw. NORTHERN LEAGUE FINAL: The junior team were beaten by Ballinameen in an entertaining league final, played under the new rules, on a scoreline of 1-14 to 1-10. Well done to Tomás McManus who was the first player to score a two-pointer in Kilronan Park.

OSCARS: The club would like to thank Ballinameen GAA Club for their generous sponsorship of the upcoming Oscars Night in Kilronan Castle. It is very much appreciated.

STROKESTOWN

WESTERN GAELS
