ATHLEAGUE

CONGRATULATIONS: The club would like to congratulate Athleague players Abbie Kane and Leah Connolly, and selector Niall Connolly, who were part of the Roscommon U-16 team that defeated Kerry in Knockcroghery on Sunday last. They are now through to the semi-final of the championship against Down at a neutral venue on Sunday, April 12th. The club would like to congratulate Rachel Fitzmaurice (captain), Aideen O’Brien, Chloe Whyte Lennon and the Roscommon junior camogie team who are through to the Division Three League final against Armagh on Saturday, April 11th. The club would also like to congratulate the club members who made their Confirmation recently.

REGISTRATION: All members need to be registered 48 hours before they take part in training or competition. Membership for all members expires on Tuesday, March 31st, so any player wishing to train on that date needs to be registered by Sunday, March 29th. Membership fees are available on Foireann.

THANKS: The club would like to thank members who paraded under the club banner in the first-ever St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Athleague on Tuesday last.

BALLINAMEEN

50/50 DRAW: Congratulations to Robbie Molloy, winner of the 50/50 draw who scooped the €2,015 jackpot. The next draw takes place on Monday, April 6th.

ADULT FIXTURES: The junior footballers recorded a hard-earned draw against Pádraig Pearses B in the O’Gara Cup. The next game is against St. Croan’s in Ballinameen on Saturday, April 4th. The Division Five League team play Kilglass Gaels in Ballinameen on Saturday, March 28th.

BOYLE

50/50 DRAW: Congratulations to the lucky winner of last weekend’s 50/50 prize draw for €2,000, Cliodna McDermott. The next draw will take place on April 4th.

LGFA NEWS: The Boyle junior ladies’ footballers play Pádraig Pearses in the Division 5B League on Friday, March 27th at 7 p.m.. Venue to be confirmed. The senior ladies play St. Barry’s in the Division One League on Sunday, March 29th, in Abbey Park at 11 a.m.. The U-16 girls meet St. Croan’s/Oran on Sunday next in Enfield at 4 p.m..

ADULT MEN’S TEAMS: The McGovern Civils senior footballers will continue their league campaign on Friday, March 27th, against St. Brigid’s in Kiltoom at 8 p.m.. The Cooney Motors sponsored men’s Junior B team will play St. Brigid’s in Kiltoom on Sunday, March 29th, at 1 p.m..

OTHER NEWS: Well done to Enda Smith who made last week’s GAA.ie Team of the Week. Rise and Shine (formerly Irish Pilgrimage Trust bringing young people with special needs to Lourdes) would like to sincerely thank all the people of Boyle parish for their contribution of €835.10 to their recent church gate collection. O’ROURKE CUP: The senior footballers were defeated by St. Brigid’s, 1-13 to 0-10, in the O’Rourke Cup.

ROSCOMMON: Good luck to John Curran, Kevin Hester, Liam Finneran and the Roscommon U-20 footballers against Sligo in Ballyforan on Wednesday evening.

KILBRIDE

MINOR FOOTBALLERS: Well done to Dara Kelleher and Jack Lally who helped the Roscommon minor footballers beat Sligo in the opening round of the Connacht Minor Football Championship (see match report, page 14).

TANSEY CUP: Kilbride continued their Tansey Cup campaign with an impressive and composed display, overcoming St. Dominic’s B on a scoreline of 2-15 to 3-7. LGFA: Congratulations to Sadhbh Kelleher and Róisín Lohan who played their part in the Roscommon U-14 girls’ team’s victory against Leitrim, which has secured their place in the Connacht B final. It was a tougher afternoon for Aisling Hanly and the Roscommon intermediate ladies’ team, who battled hard but, ultimately, lost out to Louth in their league fixture on Sunday. The Division Two ladies travelled to St. Croan’s on Sunday morning. While they came up short on the scoreboard, the team delivered a noticeably improved display, showing greater cohesion, workrate, and confidence throughout.

LOTTO: There was no winner of the jackpot in the draw on March 21st. Five €20 winners were Damien Parker, Aine McCormack, David Brennan, Martin Conneally, and David Thompson. The next draw takes place on April 4th for a jackpot of €15,000. Every ticket purchased directly helps fund the development of club facilities, supports teams, and strengthens the future of Kilbride GAA.

They will be competing against the very best players from across the country at the interprovincial tournament on March 29th in Athlone.

LGFA: Well done to the Kilmore/Kilglass Gaels adult ladies’ team who defeated Castlerea St. Kevin’s in the third round of the league on Sunday last. They play Michael Glaveys in Kilglass on Sunday next at 11 a.m..

LOTTO: The lotto jackpot stands at €8,500 ahead of the next draw on Sunday evening in Earley’s, Hillstreet, at 9 p.m.. Tickets are on sale from all the usual venues and via the club app.

OTHER NEWS: Best of luck to Mark Carroll, Darragh Devaney, Shane Carroll, Damien Tiernan and Colm Garvey who are involved with the Roscommon minor and U-20 football teams this week. The U-20 team face Sligo on Wednesday evening in Ballyforan and the minor team face Galway on Friday evening in King and Moffatt Dr. Hyde Park.

MICHAEL GLAVEYS

O’GARA CUP: The senior men’s footballers made it three wins from three in the O’Gara Cup, defeating St. Brigid’s B by 3-11 to 3-7 in Kiltoom last Sunday. Conor Coyne, Conor Hussey and Tiernan Murphy scored the goals to get Glaveys over the line. This result leaves the team top of the table. Next up is Pádraig Pearses B on Saturday, April 4th, in Ballinlough.

LGFA NEWS: The intermediate ladies’ team also made it three wins from three in Division Three. They defeated Northern Harps by 2-8 to 1-7 in Ballinameen on Sunday morning. Meadbh Hanley and Joann Daly grabbed the all-important goals. This result leaves them top of the table. The junior ladies’ team suffered a heavy defeat to Boyle B in the Division Five League in Strokestown on Friday evening.

CLOONFAD PARADE: Congratulations to all involved in getting third prize in the Cloonfad St. Patrick’s Day Parade last Tuesday. A big thank to Daryl, Nigel and the parade committee for inviting Glaveys.

OPEN EVENING: The club will be hosting an underage open evening on Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Complex, Ballinlough. It will present a great opportunity for the players to meet their coaches for the year ahead. All players and parents are welcome.

NORTHERN GAELS

WEEKLY NEWS: As the new football season begins, the club would like to welcome back players and coaching staff for what promises to be another jam-packed season ahead. The U-17 footballers got their league campaign off to a winning start with a hard-fought 7-10 to 4-14 win away to St. Gabriel’s. PÁDRAIG PEARSES

EASTER CAMP: The club will host a three-day Easter camp between Tuesday, March 31st and Thursday, April 2nd. The camp is for boys and girls aged between five and 13. The deadline for registration is March 24th. Times are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day. The cost is €40 per child. If two or more from the same family, the cost is €35 per child. EOIN COLLERAN: Congratulations to Pádraig Pearses senior footballer Eoin Colleran who has been selected on the Electric Ireland GAA Higher Education Rising Stars Sigerson Cup Team of the Year after finishing his campaign with NUI Galway GAA as the competition’s top scorer from play. Eoin was named at wing forward on a star-studded line-up. He will be presented with his award later this month. Well done to Eoin on his fantastic achievement.

ST. BARRY'S

U-6 NURSERY: The U-6 Nursery for 2026 starts on this Friday on the astro at 6.30 p.m.. Children born in 2020 and 2021 are invited, and any boys or girls who wants to come along and try it out for the first time is more than welcome.

ADULT LEAGUES: The adult leagues continued, as did the positive start to the year for St. Barry’s teams. The Division Five ladies’ team beat St. Ciaran’s, as did the Division One ladies’ team when they defeated St. Brigid’s. The lads enjoyed a comprehensive victory against St. Ronan’s in the Tansey Cup on Saturday afternoon.

GAELIC FOR MOTHERS AND OTHERS: Training recommenced on Thursday last for the Gaelic For Mothers and Others (G4MO), which is a recreational, non-competitive form of ladies' Gaelic football designed to introduce women to the sport in a fun, social, and safe environment. ST. FAITHLEACH’S

CIARÁIN MURTAGH: Saturday night marked a memorable evening of reflection for the Roscommon GAA community, honouring Ciaráin Murtagh’s retirement from intercounty football. The event, which was flawlessly organised by St. Faithleach’s GAA members, brought together players, fans, and officials to celebrate his stellar career. Ciaráin, a St. Faithleach’s man, made 122 senior appearances for Roscommon since his 2014 debut. The event beautifully captured the community's admiration for an extraordinary talent who epitomised passion, leadership, and unwavering pride in the Primrose and Blue jersey. Ciaráin shone as an amazing player whose consistency and sportsmanship inspired all around him. Thanks to everyone who attended and made the night so memorable. Thank you to those who attended, including special guests MC Willie Hegarty, Seánie McDermott, Enda Smith, Conor Devaney, Kevin McStay, Paul Lindsey, Danny Murray, Brian Carroll and Thomas Murray. To the Murtagh family — Andy, Breda, Brian, Diarmuid and Mary Lou — it was a pleasure to host an evening, not only for Ciaráin but also for a very special family. Thanks to everyone who helped out in the lead-up to the event, those who contributed to interviews, and to the club’s very own poet, Seán Cox.

ST. MICHAEL’S

CONNACHT CHAMPIONS: Comhghairdeas mór to the club’s ballad group of Chloe McGuinness, Ronan and Aoife Guckian, Sorcha Gilboy, and Niamh Reynolds who won their Connacht Scór Sinsir final on Saturday. A huge thank you to mentor Anne Marie Harte, Scór Co-ordinator Geraldine McMorrow and everyone who supported the group. They have qualified for the All-Ireland Scór finals in the TF Royal Theatre on April 25th.

O’GARA CUP: Well done to the intermediate footballers, sponsored by Joe Simon Home, Garden and Build, who defeated St. Croan’s by 2-17 to 1-11 at sunny Ardcarne Park on Saturday evening. The next game is against Shannon Gaels on Easter Sunday in Croghan at 1 p.m.. ST. RONAN’S

TANSEY CUP: The junior footballers were defeated by a superior St. Barry's team in their Tansey Cup game at Tarmonbarry on Saturday last. On a more positive note, another minor player, Jack Beirne, made his debut for the adult team. Well done to Jack who joined his three minor team-mates who made their first appearance the previous week. The next game is away to Kilmore on April 4th.

SCÓR: The Instrumental Music group gave an outstanding performance at the Connacht Scór Sinsir finals in Tubbercurry on Saturday evening last but, unfortunately, success did not come their way. Congratulations to the group on their great achievements during the past few years. The group consists of Declan Noone, Rachel Noone, Elizabeth Earley, Clodagh Daly and Leanne Hennessy. Congratulations to St. Michael’s on their success in the Ballad Group section. Best wishes to them when they represent Connacht at the All-Ireland finals in the TF Theatre, Castlebar, at the end of April.

LOTTO: There was no winner of the lotto jackpot in last Sunday evening’s draw. O’ROURKE CUP: The club's PB Networks sponsored senior league team recorded a 2-15 to 0-8 win over Pádraig Pearses in the third round of the O'Rourke Cup on Saturday. The junior footballers play Kilbride on Saturday evening.

PRESENTATION NIGHT: Thank you to special guest Brian Carroll who presented the club's O’Gara Cup winners’ medals, Division Five League winners’ medals and the Tulsk Camogie Junior B winners’ medals in Flanagan's Bar, Castleplunkett, on Saturday evening.

COMMUNITY PARK: The draft plans for the amenity area beside the club's new training pitch will be on display for the public to view from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday evening, March 25th, at Cruachan Ai Visitor Centre.

WEEKENED CELEBRATIONS: The club will host a full weekend of celebrations to officially open its new training pitch over the June Bank Holiday weekend.
