ATHLEAGUE/TREMANE/ORAN 1-18

FOUR ROADS 2-12

Paddy Fallon produced yet another sensational shooting masterclass in Ballyforan on Tuesday evening, firing 1-12 to go with the 0-15 he struck in the Oran colours just two days previously.

Sunday’s display helped secure an automatic semi-final berth for his club in the senior championship, and on Tuesday night he was the driving force behind Athleague/Tremane/Oran ousting favourites Four Roads to claim the U-21 championship.

Four Roads’ tally of 13 wides and the fact that they played the last third of the game with 14 men following a straight red card for key attacker Conor Morris might point to the combination side falling over the finish line rather than emphatically claiming the trophy.

But on a stiflingly warm evening, there was no doubting which team had the hottest form over the course of the hour.

Paddy Fallon’s ninth minute goal helped Athleague/Tremane/Oran on their way and with their defence only conceding four scores from play, the amalgamation were able to propel themselves 1-11 to 0-6 in front at half time.

Four Roads suffered another hammer blow when Conor Morris was red-carded for interfering with the faceguard of an opponent but Tommy Morris’ tour de force saw Four Roads leave themselves firmly in the mix.

Rory Coyle’s long range free found the net while Eoghan Morris’ first time pull ensured nerves frayed but ultimately Athleague/Tremane/Oran held theirs to be crowned county champions.
