A member of the St. Brigid’s senior football management has paid tribute to the players that brought the club to the cusp of a second All-Ireland football title a few weeks ago.

Owen Mooney, who was part of Anthony Cunningham’s management team, said that the players had brightened the winter months for the Kiltoom/Cam parish with county and Connacht titles during their magical run to club football’s biggest day in Croke Park.

“Sport is cruel but it’s also beautiful,” said Mooney in a post on social media.

“We got to see first-hand the joy these players brought to their friends, family and the wider Naomh Bríd community.

“To get the opportunity to work with such a dedicated group and management team in Anthony, John, Niall, Evan, Cian, Kieran, Tomás, Michael, John, Damien was fantastic and to have Ciara O’Malley involved was priceless.

“Thank you St. Brigid’s for everything. It’s not a goodbye, it’s a see you later,” he said.

St. Brigid’s GAA Club has also reflected on an “unforgettable 2025/2026 season” — one that brought immense pride to club and its wider community.

In a post on social media, the club extended its appreciation to everyone who supported the senior footballers on their incredible journey, which came up just short in the All-Ireland senior club final against Daingean Uí Chúis.

“While the result on the day was not what we hoped for, the achievement of reaching an All-Ireland senior club final, and the manner in which St. Brigid’s GAA was represented throughout the season, will be remembered with enormous pride. This journey was only possible because of the collective effort and support of so many.

“To our players, thank you for your outstanding commitment, resilience, and pride in representing St. Brigid’s GAA. Reaching an All-Ireland senior club final is a remarkable achievement, and the effort, courage, and professionalism you displayed throughout the campaign — particularly in the face of disappointment — reflect the very best of our club.

“To the management team, thank you for your leadership, dedication, and countless hours of preparation and guidance. Your commitment to excellence, attention to detail, and belief in the group were central to the success of this memorable season.

“To our sponsors, including everyone who supported us through Sponsor a Player initiatives or generous iDonate contributions — your backing has been invaluable. Your generosity enabled the club to prepare and compete at the highest level, and we are deeply grateful for your continued belief in St. Brigid’s GAA.

“To our loyal supporters and fans, from Kiltoom and Cam parish, across County Roscommon, throughout Ireland, and from all over the world — thank you for your unwavering support. Whether at matches, following from afar, or showing pride in the club colours, your encouragement meant more than words can express.

“To the local media, including our radio stations and newspapers, thank you for your coverage, promotion, and continued support of St. Brigid’s GAA. Your role in highlighting the club’s journey and achievements helped share this remarkable season with the wider community.

Finally, to our volunteers within the club, we extend our deepest thanks. From coaching and administration to match day duties and all the unseen work behind the scenes, your selfless contribution is the backbone of St. Brigid’s GAA. Without your dedication, none of this would be possible.

“Though the All-Ireland title eluded us in the 2025/2026 season, the unity, spirit, and pride shown by everyone connected with St. Brigid’s GAA will endure. Together, we move forward — proud of our journey, grateful for the support, and optimistic for the future,” the statement concluded.
