Roscommon forward Cian McKeon is set to miss Sunday week’s Division One National Football League game against Kerry in Killarney.

The Boyle forward picked up a leg injury in the latter stages of last Sunday’s defeat against Mayo and has been ruled out of the game against the All-Ireland champions.

However, Roscommon manager Mark Dowd — speaking following his side’s one-point defeat against Sligo in Bekan on Friday evening — confirmed that Strokestown defender Colm Neary has rejoined the squad, while midfielders Conor Ryan and Keith Doyle were rested for the game against the Yeats County and will be vying for selection against Jack O’Connor’s men.

Dowd also outlined that Pádraig Pearses defender, Davy Murray, was “taking a bit of time out for himself”. He didn’t put a timeframe on Murray’s possible return.

“We just wanted to see other lads. Winning a FBD League Shield final in the middle of January wasn’t our ultimate goal. We were more concerned with giving everyone a fair crack of the whip.

“There will be no one saying after three games in the FBD that they didn’t get a fair crack at it. Some lads have put up their hand looking for that starting spot against Kerry,” he said.
