Ballymote Round Towers cruised to the Connacht Junior Football Final with a straightforward 2-16 to 0-9 win over St. Barry’s in Markievicz Park.

The first half was a cagey affair, with Ballymote putting much of the pressure on the Roscommon Junior champions, but the defence held strong to only go in 0-4 to 0-3 down at the break.

Ballymote’s quality told in the second half as they got the games opening goal in the 33rd minute through substitute Malachy Healy.

Barry’s petered out of the game completely, and a late goal courtesy of a Zak O’Dowd high ball that slipped through goalkeeper Oisin Fallon’s gloves summed up Barry’s day.

Ballymote now progress through to the Connacht final against Galway side An Cheathrú Rua in two weeks time while St. Barry's will be playing Intermediate football next year.
