Two Roscommon senior footballers are among the 45 PwC GAA/GPA Football All-Star nominations, which have been released this morning (Thursday).
St. Faithleach’s forward, Diarmuid Murtagh, has deservedly become an All-Star nominee for the first time, while St. Brigid’s defender, Brian Stack, has been nominated for a second consecutive season.
Murtagh was Roscommon’s most consistent performer in 2024, kicking some memorable points, while Stack was superb for the Rossies towards the latter end of the campaign, especially in the All-Ireland quarter-final against eventual champions, Armagh, in Croke Park.
Overall, 11 different counties have nominations, with Galway duo, Paul Conroy and John Maher to battle it out Armagh defender, Barry McCambridge for the Footballer of the Year award.
Oisín Conaty (Armagh), Johnny McGrath (Galway), and Ciarán Moore (Donegal) will battle it out for Young Footballer of the Year.
The All-Star selection committee consists of a panel of GAA journalists from across, print, radio, TV and digital media with the final 15 in both hurling and football set to be unveiled at a special banquet in the RDS on Friday, November 1st — the 140th anniversary of the GAA’s formation
