Castlerea intermediate football team manager, Dara Bruen, has praised the town’s sporting heroes who are enabling a younger generation to dream of being successful.

Bruen, who is preparing his team for an All-Ireland semi-final against Cill na Martra on January 6th, has singled out the town’s sporting achievements, spearheaded by the exploits of the O’Rourke sisters (Aoife and Lisa) and buttressed by his team being crowned county and provincial intermediate football champions this year.

“The kids have been the big one. Kids seeing success within the club and the town, it only adds to it.

“Aoife O’Rourke had a post up there the other day — only 220 days until she goes into the ring in Paris. For a small town like Castlerea, you can aspire to be successful. Those things are great for the kids to see and learn,” he said.
