One of the country’s most familiar faces during the Covid-19 pandemic has taken up the captaincy at a local golf club.

Paul Reid, former Director General of the HSE, held his Captains’ Drive-In at Carrick Golf Club on Saturday last alongside Lady Captain, Anne Cox.

Mr Reid, who was appointed Director General of the Health Service Executive in 2019, became a familiar face across the country during the State’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic. In June 2022, he stepped down from the role.

He currently spends much of his time locally in Carrick-on-Shannon and is a popular and highly respected member of the local golf club located on the N4 between Boyle and Carrick-on-Shannon.
