Golf Notes: Memories of Boyle's Lucy Gaffney

BOYLE

LUCY GAFFNEY, RIP: Everyone at Boyle Golf Club was sorry to hear about the death of Lucy Gaffney in recent weeks. Lucy and the Gaffney family have been an integral part of Boyle Golf Club since the mid-1960s. Lucy remained a fully paid-up member until the time of her death. Lucy had “done it all” in the club, having won several Lady Captain’s prizes. She was both Lady Captain and Lady President, and played on numerous interclub teams, including the ladies’ intermediate team that won a Connacht title in 1992.

Her late husband Michael was also as committed to the club, as are her son Brendan and daughter-in-law Susan.

The club extends its sympathy to Brendan and Susan, the extended Gaffney family and Lucy’s wide circle of friends.
