A young County Roscommon golfer helped his province to All-Ireland glory last week.
Patrick Martin from Kilmore — a member of Carrick-on-Shannon Golf Club — was part of the Connacht U-14 boys’ team that powered their way to All-Ireland glory at Ballykisteen, County Tipperary.
The two-day event saw the four regions compete against each other with one foursomes match followed by four singles matches.
Connacht defeated Ulster and Munster 3.5-1.5 on Monday week last before beating Leinster 3-2 24 hours later to be crowned champions for the first time in eight years.
Son of Philip and Ann Marie Martin, Patrick is a highly regarded golfer among Carrick club members.
Both Carrick-on-Shannon Golf Club and Kilmore GAA Club took to social media to congratulate Patrick on his achievement.
