Mixed fortunes for O’Rourke sisters in European boxing championships

It was an evening of mixed fortunes for the O’Rourke sisters in their respective quarter-finals at the European Elite Boxing Championships in Belgrade, Serbia.
In the quarter-finals this evening (Tuesday), Aoife, the defending European champion at 75kg, comprehensively defeated Veronika Nakota from Hungary 5-0 while in a last eight 66kg contest, Lisa was narrowly defeated 4-3 by Slovakia’s Jessica Triebelova after a bout review.
Aoife, who is preparing for the Paris Olympics this summer, is guaranteed at least a bronze medal in advance of her semi-final bout on Thursday.
