A young County Roscommon boy hit the jackpot at the recent Connacht Children’s Games and U-12/U-13 Championships in Dangan on Saturday week last.
Devan Curran, representing Castlerea Crusaders AC, won the gold medal in the U-10 boys' long jump competition, smashing the record in the process.
It was a hugely successful Games for the Castlerea club. Devan also teamed up with Eoin Gorman to take gold and they will now progress to national finals in Tullamore later this month. Overall, the club posted four top ten finishes.
Devan's cousins, John and Dara, have been involved with the Roscommon U-20 and U-17 football panels respectively this year.
Dara captained the minor team to provincial glory a few weeks ago and will lead the team out in their upcoming All-Ireland semi-final against Tyrone.
