Roscommon Gaels retained their U-20 Division One football title by blitzing Michael Glaveys/Éire Óg at Rockfield's splendid new playing surface on Saturday afternoon.
Led by the superb Eoghan Carthy, it was a masterful performance from the Gaels who, for the most part, did everything right in cool, dry conditions at the home of Oran GAA Club.
The winners laid down an early marker with the Carthy brothers, Rory and Eoin, hitting a pair of two-pointers inside the first two minutes.
Further scores followed from Eoghan Carty, Tom Biesty and Ryan Dowling, and, suddenly, the Gaels were nearly out the gap, leading by 0-7 to 0-0 after only eight minutes.
Michael Glaveys/Éire Óg stemmed the bleeding somewhat with a two-pointer from Brian Greene and a goal from Robert Heneghan shortly after Roscommon Gaels defender, Ciaran O'Reilly, was shown a black card.
But they needed more, and Roscommon Gaels finished the half strongly, topped off by Rory Carthy's superb goal on the call of half time.
Trailing by 1-11 to 1-2, Michael Glaveys/Éire Óg needed to find a response, but Brian Greene's goal was ruled out for a square ball.
While Niall Heneghan did find the net later in the half, Roscommon Gaels stitched a delightful necklace of scores together, including two points apiece from Ciarán Mulry, Ryan Dowling and Sam Hannon, to run out convincing winners and bring the 2025 Roscommon GAA club calendar to a close.
