Roscommon woman wins Everton Young Player of the Year award

South Roscommon native Heather Payne has been awarded the Young Player of the Season 2023/24 at the Everton Women awards.
Heather plies her trade with the club in the Women’s Super League in England alongside some of the best players in the world.
In a congratulation message on social media, Everton Women said: “What an incredible debut campaign, Payno!”.
She is also a Republic of Ireland senior women’s soccer international, and earlier this year, won the 2023 Roscommon Herald/SuperValu Outstanding Achievement award.
A former underage ladies’ footballer with Pádraig Pearses and Roscommon, Heather was also chosen as 2023 Young Women’s Player of the Year at last year’s FAI International awards.
