Tributes paid to talented local pool player who brought ‘life and joy’ to the game he loved

Tributes have been paid to a talented County Roscommon pool player who brought “life and joy” to the game he loved.
Hugh Kielty, Keadue, Boyle, County Roscommon passed away suddenly earlier this week at University Hospital, Sligo.
A former monthly winner of a
for his exploits on the baize, Hugh was an extremely popular team-mate and an immensely talented pool player.In a tribute, the Leitrim Pool Association said that “Hughie was an integral part of Leitrim Pool, bringing life and joy to pool whether it was competing in pub league, Premier League or in Killarney for the All-Irelands. Hughie will be dearly missed by everyone associated with Leitrim Pool.”
Team-mate Niall Sweeney added: “Had the pleasure of having played on so many teams together, pub league teams, county teams, and playing together for Ireland — all memories that were cherished.
“Many’s a lesson you taught me in tournaments. What an incredibly talented player you were — easily one of the best that ever came from these parts. And above all one of the nicest guys you could meet.”
Hugh Kielty was pre-deceased by his brother Raymond and his grandparents. He will be sadly missed by his parents Joseph and Rosaleen; sisters Amanda and Natasha, brothers Damien and Neil; aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, neighbours and friends.
Reposing at Shivnan’s Funeral Home, Ballyfarnon, on Friday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Removal on Saturday morning to the Church of the Nativity of the B. V. M. Keadue, arriving for Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon. Interment afterwards in Kilronan Cemetery.
