Acclaimed children's writer, Darren Shan.

Acclaimed children’s writer Darren Shan will be a welcome visitor to Roscommon County Library on Tuesday, April 8th at 6 p.m..

The event will be held as part of the public libraries’ Spring into Storytime annual festival, held annually to encourage greater reading and engagement with national school age readers.

Darren will be marking the 25th anniversary of the publication of his popular book, Cirque Du Freak, at this event as well as conducting some readings, answering questions from fans and signing books afterwards.

Copies of the 25th anniversary edition of Cirque Du Freak will be available at the event and fans of the writer will also be able to bring along some of his other books for signing.

Born in London but living in Limerick, his first published book was for adults and was released in 1999. However, he became better known for his books when Cirque Du Freak was first published in January 2000.

The Roscommon event is the first of a number in 2025 to coincide with the silver anniversary of the release of Cirque Du Freak. Darren assures his fans of lots of fun and even the occasional flying limb or two!

Tickets for this event, which has a capacity of 60 are free, but must be booked in advance.
