New series of writing workshops in Carrick with poet and author Gerry Boland
Poet Gerry Boland.
A new series of writing workshops with author Gerry Boland will be of interest to anyone who is open to exploring the creative impulses that run through our lives.
Each Tuesday, Gerry will guide participants through a series of writing exercises designed to unlock the wealth of creativity that is waiting to be released.
At each session, there’ll be writing exercises in poetry, in fiction, in memoir and in dialogue. There’ll be reading and analysis of a wide range of material, and discussions around identity, creativity, inspiration and anything else of relevance that crops up during the sessions.
Gerry says: “It’s never too late to unlock your innate creativity. I was in my forties when I wrote my first (sadly unpublished!) children’s novel. It was only then that I realised there existed this hidden reservoir of creativity inside of me and all I had to do was to honour it by continuing to write.”
Gerry is a poet, author, editor and mentor. He has published ten books (poetry, fiction, non-fiction) and has edited several magazines and anthologies, including two major literary anthologies for Roscommon County Council. He has wide experience of leading writing workshops in poetry, short fiction and memoir, and for several years he has been offering a one-to-one mentoring service to writers.
The workshops will run on consecutive Tuesday mornings at The Dock, Carrick-on-Shannon from 11 a.m. – 12.30 p.m., commencing April 21st and ending June 9th. The eight-week course fee is €95, payable to The Dock Booking Office. Book your place through the Box Office at 071 965 0828.
