‘THE WOMAN FROM BALLAGHADERREEN’ VIDEO IS RELEASED 

The 2 Johnnies have just released the video for their song ‘The woman from Ballaghaderreen’. The two Tipperary lads came to town  last month and spent a day filming all over the town, the video shoot featuring many local people and businesses in the town. As night fell the boys went indoors and delivered a super charged gig to a packed Spell’s Bar. Snippets of their day and night in the town  make up this fun filled video which you will find on The 2 Johnnies YouTube channel and also on Spotify.

COMMUNITY GAMES CHAMPIONS 

Congratulations to the U-13 girls and U-15 girls’ Futsal teams who were both confirmed as Community Games County Champions 2025 on Sunday last in The Hub in Castlerea. Congrats to both teams who performed brilliantly.

FC 50/50 DRAW

In the FC 50/50 draw on Tuesday, April 8th the jackpot of €238 was won by Eileen & John Towey, seller, Imelda's. The Joker was not found. Eileen & John will have a chance to win €1,000 on. This Tuesday, April 15th at the Community Park if they can pick the Joker before the 50/50 draw. Thank you for your continued support. FOOTBALL PROGRAMME FOR CHILDREN WITH ADDITIONAL NEEDS 

Ballaghaderreen FC brings you a football programme for children with additional needs, an inclusive, and supportive programme that focuses on building confidence, developing motor skills, making friends, and of course having a blast on the field. GAA 50/50 DRAW 

The GAA’s 50/50 weekly draw took place in Creaton’s Bar on Sunday night. The jackpot of €535 was won by Niamh from Dublin, seller, Imelda's. Next draw is in Durkin’s Bar.

GOLF INTRODUCTORY NIGHT FOR LADIES 

Ballaghaderreen Golf Club is inviting ladies of all ages to an introductory evening to get into playing golf on Tuesday, May 6th at 7.30 p.m. in the clubhouse. No equipment is needed. Light refreshments on the night.

UPDATE ON SWIMMING POOL

The swimming pool located at the former Abbeyfield Hotel is in the latter stages of refurbishment and has a planned phased reopening on Monday, April 28th, under its new name, The Splash Pool Ballaghaderreen. This is welcome news for the town. Well done to all involved and who pushed for this re-opening.

WESTERN GAELS FUNDRAISER 

Western Gaels will hold a Table Quiz on Saturday, April 26th in Tibohine Hall. Tables of 4 ,€40, Bar and music on the night.

KILMOVEE & BALLAGHADERREEN COMBINE 

 It was a big week for the U-16 and minor girls as Anna Mai Regan made her minor Connacht championship debut, in a big win against Leitrim. At U-16 level, Meabh Lavin and Saerlaith Dillon's team beat Galway and Leitrim in their Connacht Championship. The senior team began their season with a trip to north Mayo where they faced St. Brigid's in Ballycastle in the Melissa Paterson League. A strong second half saw them winning on a scoreline on 6-17 to 2-10.

The U-14 team will face Louisburgh in Round 1 of Division 3 League on Thursday, April 17th at 7 p.m. in Kilmovee, with fixtures against Charlestown and Westport to follow. The U-12's will play Charlestown in Kilmovee on in the first round of their Go Games League. Further matches against Parke, Claremorris, Balla and Aghamore will take place over the coming weeks. Training continues for U-8 and U-10 girls each Monday evening on Kilmovee Astro, from 6-7 p.m.. All new players aged 6+ welcome.

POUND ST CRIB DONATIONS 

A total of €203 was collected from the donation box at the crib in Pound Street over the festive season. Kilgariff Funeral Directors would like to thank all who contributed. Ballaghaderreen St. Vincent De Paul. will receive a cheque from Kilgariffs to help with its work in the community.

LATE MRS JOSIE BRUEN 

The death occurred on March 30th, peacefully at her home with her devoted family by her side, of Mrs Josie Bruen (née Rogers), Lismulgee, Carracastle, and formerly of Hollywood Grove, Ballaghaderreen. She was predeceased by her son, Jonathan and her parents, Michael and Rose. Josie will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her husband, Charlie; son, Charles; daughter, Samantha; grandchildren, Vivienne, Ethan and Harry; son-in-law, Declan; daughter-in-law, Tiffany, extended family, neighbours and friends. Following Mass of the Resurrection in St Nathy’s Cathedral interment took place in Kilcolman Cemetery.

LATE MRS ANNE JENNINGS

 The death occurred peacefully on April 3rd, in the wonderful care of the doctors and nurses at Sligo University Hospital of Mrs Anne Jennings (née O'Gara), Currasallagh, Lisacul. Anne will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her heartbroken family, her husband, Séan; daughter, Bridie (O'Dowd); son, Séan; sister, Mary; grandchildren, Nigel, Leona and Natasha; great-grandchildren, Noah, Bentley and Cassey; son-in-law, Marty; daughter-in-law, Charmaine, her nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and many friends. Following Mass of the resurrection in Christ the King Church, Lisacul interment took place in Lisacul Cemetery.
