BOYLE
CHURCH OF IRELAND CELEBRATING 250th ANNIVERSARY
On Sunday, October 1st at 4 p.m., Boyle Church of Ireland is holding a Service of Celebration of the 250th anniversary of the Church 1773 – 2023. Bishop Ferran Glenfield will be the preacher and this also will incorporate the Harvest Thanksgiving Service. Everyone very welcome to attend. To commemorate this anniversary, Clive Roe has produced a booklet on the history of the church which can be purchased for €5, available on the day and locally.
COFFEE MORNING
A fundraiser for Mayo/Roscommon Hospice will be held in the home of Tony and Claire Regan, Marian Road, Boyle from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 21st, National Coffee Morning for Hospice. All support would be appreciated.

FLEADH COLLECTION
Roscommon has been allocated the hosting of the Connacht Fleadh 2024. Strokestown will be hosting the event. As part of a Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann fundraising drive for the event a church gate collection will be held in your area on the weekend of September 23rd and 24th. All donations will be very much appreciated.
IRISH CLASSES
Irish classes are set to get underway at Boyle Family Resource Centre. Classes for complete beginners will commence on Tuesday, September 19th and for improvers on Thursday, September 21st from 7 p.m.-8.30 p.m.. The classes will run for 10 weeks €100 per term. FAMILY SUPPORT DROP-IN CLINIC
Boyle Family Resource Centre operates a family support drop-in clinic. This is a confidential space for parents/guardians and families to drop in for a listening ear and receive support about issues and concerns that they have. The service runs on Wednesday mornings from 9.30 a.m. -12 noon during the primary school term. This is an interagency project with Boyle FRC, Foroige, Tulsa & Roscommon Safe Link. BREASTFEEDING SUPPORT
A breastfeeding support group operates in Boyle. This is a space where you and your baby or, if you are pregnant and thinking about breastfeeding will receive lots of support, a warm welcome and a cuppa. The group meets on the last Friday of every month in Boyle Family Resource Centre, 0719663000.
BABY AND TODDLER GROUP
A baby and toddler group is a great way of meeting other people with children the same age as yours in our community. Boyle Family resource Centre has art, crafts, music, and other activities planned, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9.30 a.m.-12 noon in the centre.
COMMON SENSE PARENTING
A seven-week Common Sense Parenting programme (one session per week) helps parents to learn skills to encourage their children’s positive behaviour. The programme runs until October 24th in Boyle Family Resource Centre. To book your place please call the centre on 0719663000. Cost, €20.

MCGAHERN BARRACKS CULTURE NIGHT EXHIBITION
Martin Heron; Scrim Sketches, Interactions with Roscommon. A Culture Night, and John McGahern Barracks exclusive, exhibition of scrim works by artist Martin Heron featuring studio work alongside images from the forthcoming photo-sketchbook of works produced at locations around Roscommon. Martin will be available to discuss his work and also give visitors the opportunity to produce their own scrim sketches during the evening. The exhibition is on Friday, September 22nd from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. with workshop sessions taking place between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.. Suitable for all ages from 6 upwards.
MCGAHERN BARRACKS PRESENTATION
On Sunday, September 24th at 3 p.m. author and historian, Michael O’Connor will present the fascinating story of the 1878 Australian Police murders and their connection with the West of Ireland. The story concerns three Irish born police officers in the state of Victoria, Australia who were brutally murdered by the notorious Australian bushranger Edward” Ned” Kelly. The venue is the McGahern Barracks Museum, Cootehall, F52YD92 at 3 p.m. on September 24th. Entrance is €10 and tickets are available on www.mcgahernbarracks.ie/book-store. BABY/TODDLER GROUP
Warm welcome to anyone that would like to join the baby and toddler group in Knockvicar. The group meets every Friday from 9.30 a.m. to 11 a.m. in Knockvicar Community Centre, Cleen Hall, F52 A497, cost is €3 per family. This group is open to all parents, childminders, grandparents of babies and toddlers in the surrounding community. MOTHERS & OTHERS
A great day out was had by all involved in the G4MO National Blitz held in Dublin again this year. The team headed off early Saturday morning and upon arrival got themselves set up near their playing pitch and headed off for the warm up. Everyone taking part in the blitz took part in the warm which consisted of a lot of energetic moves!!!
The first game got underway at 1 2noon and from then on, the day ran very smoothly with games being played in a very friendly, enjoyable and non-competitive manner. Thanks must go to Theresa White who took charge of the team this year and had them well prepared!
Thanks also to Peadar from McGowan Buses who was the bus chauffeur this year ensuring all got there and back safely. If you wish to join the G4MO team please do come along, training every Monday night at 8.45 p.m. in Ardcarne Park.
