ARDCARNE COMMUNITY GAMES

We were extremely well represented by 5 exceptionally talented athletes at the Cairn Provincial Athletic Finals on Saturday. The Finals were held in Athlone. Eleanor Reilly and Nikita Masyutin ran in the U14 800m Finals. Thomas Sharkey ran in the U12 600m Final. Robyn McGarry ran in the U14 200m semi-final and after a fantastic run she reached the final of her event. Unfortunately, it was a very strong line up and while Robyn gave it her all it wasn't to be her day. Both races she ran were very fast paced. Saoirse Cox competed in the U12 100m and after coming 2nd in her semi-final, it was onto the final for her too. Again, Saoirse was in a line-up of the best 8 on the day. Saoirse ran exceptionally well in her final too and so unfortunate. It was a race where anyone would have hated being a judge where it was decided by the finest of margins. On behalf of Agnes and Michelle we want to congratulate this group of athletes. They gave everything to their training sessions and competed with the fantastic sportsmanship. We are very proud of you all. We would like to wish Roisin Cummins the very best of luck as she represents Ardcarne and Roscommon at the Cairn National Finals in Carlow on Saturday 23rd August. Roisin will run in the U16 100m.
