In recognition and appreciation of the Pastoral care and good work that Fr. Micheál Donnelly has brought to the local parishes and to wish him all the best in his new Parish, there will be a Community Farewell Function on Sunday, September 6th next , commencing with Mass at 3 p.m. in Ballinagare Church followed by a function in Ballinagare Community Centre. Further details to follow at a later date. Also, a meeting will be held on Thursday, June 24th next at 8 p.m. in Frenchpark Parish Hall to plan for this event. Anyone interested in getting involved is more than welcome to attend. It would be great to have people from the different groups within our community to attend this very important meeting.
The Cornerstone, Frenchpark are hosting a three-day felt workshop. Day One - Tuesday, June 23rd; Day Two - Monday, July 6th and Day Three is on Friday, July 10th next. All classes will run from 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. This course is completely free. Phone (094) 9870340 to sign up.
The death occurred peacefully, after a short illness, of Mr Derek Vincent, Carrowreagh, Frenchpark on Tuesday, June 9th last at the North West Hospice Sligo. He will be sadly missed by his loving family, friends and neighbours.
The peaceful death took place of Mr Pat Kilkenny Behy, Castlerea on Monday, May 25th last at Oakwood Private Nursing Home. Brother of Tim Kilkenny, Ballinameen, Pat was pre-deceased by the deaths of his father Pat, mother Nora, brother Jim and his brother-in-law Joe. He will be sadly missed by his sisters Rita, Anne, and Margaret, brother Tim, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends. His remains were removed from Gaynor's Funeral to St. Patrick's Church, Castlerea on Thursday, May 28th last. Following Requiem Mass on the Friday morning, the funeral proceeded to Ballintubber Cemetery BEREAVEMENTS Pray for the repose of the souls of Mrs Bridget Gillen, Moydow, Co. A collection will take place, in aid of the Assisted Pilgrim Section of the Achonry Elphin Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes, on Saturday (20th) and Sunday, June 21st next. Thirty-five Assisted Pilgrims from the Diocese will travel to Lourdes this year and all monies collected at church gates will be used to help defray the costs of this section of the pilgrimage. The collection will be taken up at the following churches in the Castlerea Deanery - Castlerea, Cloonbonniffe, Trien, Loughglynn, Lisacul, Tibohine, Gorthaganny, Frenchpark, Fairymount, Ballinagare, Ballintubber, Ballymoe, Glinsk, Kilbegnet. Your support would be appreciated.

Sr. Mary Gallagher from the Congregation of the Missionary Sisters of the Holy Rosary wishes to sincerely thank parishioners, once again, for additional donations received towards her recent Parish Appeal. A further sum of €185 was received in addition to our initial donation of €1791.16, bringing the total to €1976.16.

Western Gaels held its weekly lottery draw on Saturday, June 13th last. There was no jackpot winner. The numbers drawn were 4, 6, 19 and 28. Cash prize winners (€20 each) were Seamus Flannery, Patrice Hanlon, Adrian Hardiman, Ronan McDermot and Anthony McKenna, The next draw (jackpot €3,100) will take place at the clubhouse in Frenchpark on this Saturday, June 20th. Tickets are available on-line through the Clubforce app or from local outlets.
Dementia Alliance will host their monthly café in Lough Key Forest Park, Boyle to help support people affected by Dementia and their families and carers. This month's café takes place on this Wednesday, June 17th from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and will include music, song, advice and a chat. Summer Music & Yoga Camps will take place from Monday, July 13th to Friday, July 17th next, 9.30 a.m. to 12 noon in Tibohine Community Centre. Limited to fifteen spaces. There is a considerable sense of sadness in the local community following news of the passing of Bernie Murray (nee Dayton) whose death occurred last week following a short illness. The deceased was an exceedingly kind and pleasant lady who was universally liked and well regarded. She particularly had a great affection and interest in the next generation of people she knew, generously gifting money and gifts to children she met when shopping or meeting their parents or family members in the local community. A resident of Clooneyquin, Tulsk, the late Bernie Murray is predeceased by her husband Dermot, sisters Marion and Kathleen, brother P.J., and parents Brian and Mary. Bernie will be missed by her children Declan, Olivia and Andrea (John), grandchildren Diarmuid, Áine, Dáithí, Éabha and Séan, sisters Pauline and Margaret, niece Joan, together with her extended family, close friends and neighbours. The deceased reposed at her family home in Clooneyquin before being removed to St. Catherine’s Church, Killina where following Funeral Mass burial took place afterwards in Tulsk Cemetery. The entire community of Tulsk would like to extend their sincere sympathies to the Murray family on their sad loss.
The annual mass at Ogulla Shrine will take place on Friday, June 26th at 7 p.m.. The mass is a traditional highlight in the calendar of the local community and this year will be no exception. In anticipation of the mass, volunteers are required for a clean-up of the shrine on Friday, June 19th from 8pm. All help will be greatly appreciated.
Tulsk History Society is compiling a history of shops and public houses past and present in the Tulsk, Castleplunkett and Killina districts of the parish, and is looking for old photographs to illustrate a publication it plans to launch in August. Photos inside or outside of the premises will be welcome. Scanned copies can be sent by email to historytulsk@gmail.com.

The roster for this year’s Cemetery Masses in the parish has been revealed. All celebrations are weather dependent at the time of scheduling. The annual Rathmoyle Cemetery Mass takes place this Sunday, June 7th from 10am. Then on Saturday, July 4th, mass will be held in Killina Graveyard from 8pm. Mass in Tulsk Cemetery will be held the following day, Sunday, July 5th from 11.30 a.m. with mass in Kilcooley Cemetery on Sunday, July 12th, again at 11.30 a.m.. These celebrations are always a wonderful celebration of colour and vibrancy, reflecting on those gone before us and lives well lived that continue to inspire us all.
The Tulsk History Society have confirmed that the May edition of the Howl is out now in usual outlets. News from yesteryear this quarter includes a notification from Fahy's shop in Glenvale, tenders for the building of Killina church (1896), cattle driving in 1907, lots of nationalism, and a lost lamb in the year of Our Lord, 1894.
Ulidia 8 or the Eighth International Conference on the Ulster Cycle of Tales will take place in the Rathcroghan Visitor Centre in Tulsk from Tuesday June 23rd to Thursday June 25th. This is a prestigious conference which focuses on many aspects of Celtic Studies relating to the Ulster Cycle, including archaeology, philology, folklore, literature and history.
Following its recent successful launch Tulsk Remembers The Great Famine 1845-1849 is now available to purchase, priced €10 in the following local shops – the Rathcroghan Visitor Centre, Conway’s Butcher’s, O’Connor’s Shop, Tulsk Laundry Services, Strokestown Famine Museum, Dawn ‘til Dusk, Glancy’s Elphin, Mitchell’s in Frenchpark and Mulvihill’s in Castlerea.
