There were lots of high jinks and healthy competition when local politicians saddled up to take part in the horse racing evening as part of the Castlerea Rose Festival.
It was a tough battle between former Senator Maura Hopkins, Cllr Marty McDermott, Cllr Larry Brennan, Cllr Ruth Conboy and Deputy Martin Daly but there was little doubt as to who would cross the line first as Cllr Brennan lead from the start and claimed victory.
Also taking part were the contestants in the Rose of Castlerea.
