WILLIAMSTOWN

HANDBALL SUCCESS

Congratulations to Grace Connaughton who won the 11 & Under, One Wall competition at Claregalway Handball Club yesterday. Grace topped her group to secure her place in the semi-final and battled on to win the final against Fenagh Handball Abbie Kane. Well done Grace In the 13 & under competition both Emily Connaughton & Catilin Smyth topped their group and secured their spot in the semi-finals. Emily tied her semi-final game which was a fantastic match and missed her place in the final by the narrowest of margins in a tiebreaker. Caitlin faced the overall competition winner and although tying the scores earlier in the game, she ran out of steam and finished her semi-final 20-12. Also out were Aoibhe & Caitlin Pedraza in the 13 & u-girls and Cian Smyth in the 13 & u-boys, who all gained valuable experience. Everyone played some really lovely handball and enjoyed games against new competitors. All of the competitors will be in this age grade next year so the future is looking very promising.
