A native of Glaslough, County Monaghan, he joined the staff of the Northern Bank and served at many locations until his transfer to the Strokestown branch in the early 1960s where he remained until 1971. He engaged in word turning as a hobby and was adept at producing many interesting pieces including a doll's house and hobby horse amongst others. He and his family resided at Elphin Street and were highly regarded neighbours and renowned for their kindly deeds. News of his passing in his 94th year was heard of with deep regret among his former neighbours and friends in the town. He was predeceased by his siblings, Sally, Frank, Maura and Gene.
