Tibohine National School is delighted to share the news that in partnership with Sunflower Children’s Hospice "Tractors & Tea," the highly anticipated motor/tractor run and family fun day, is returning to Tibohine Community Centre on this Sunday, June 14th. Registration from 8 a.m.. Children’s entertainment from 12 noon and vehicles to depart at 1.30 p.m.. It promises to be a great day out for the whole family. Western Gaels held its weekly lottery draw on Saturday, June 6th last. There was one jackpot winner. Congratulations to Padraig Duffy who won €3,900.The numbers drawn were 3, 12, 15 and 29. The next draw (jackpot €3,000) will take place at the clubhouse in Frenchpark on this Saturday, June 13th. Tickets are available on-line through the Clubforce app or from local outlets.
The marriage took place of Jen Mahon, daughter of Thomas & Margaret Mahon, Skreen, County Sligo to Tommie Devine, son of Tommie Snr. & Sinead Devine, Boyle Road, Frenchpark on Saturday, May 30th last at St. Adaman’s Church in Skreen. The Nuptial Mass with Papal blessing was performed by Fr. Padraig Devine. The Maid of Honour was Laura Joyce. Bridesmaids were Rachel Mahon, Louise Mahon, Kate Carr, and Debbie Smith. Best Man was John Devine. Groomsmen were Marty Merrick, Eoghan Cahill, Ronan Cahill, and Paddy McKeon. The reception was held in the Diamond Coast Hotel, Enniscrone. The couple are wished a long and happy married life together.

The death occurred Mr Padraig Hester, Vale View, Lisalway on Monday, May 25th last at Roscommon Hospice. Brother of Anna McDermott, Brackloon, Ballinagare, he is also survived by his loving family, his wife, Patricia; son, James; daughter, Bernadette; son-in-law, Graham; grandchildren, Gavin, Megan & Logan; brother, Canon Seamus; sister-in-law, Marie, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends. Padraig (89) was pre-deceased by his parents Bridget & James, brothers Michael & Frank and nephew Seamus. His remains were removed to St. Paul's Church, Kilmurry for Requiem Mass on Thursday, May 28th last. The funeral proceeded afterwards to Rathmoyle Cemetery.

The next meeting of the County Roscommon Historical and Archaeological Society will take place this evening (Tuesday) June 9th in the Rathcroghan Visitor Centre from 8 p.m. with a lecture by Paul Connolly, which will begin after the normal business of the meeting, from 8.30 p.m.. All members are invited to attend the meeting – new members are welcome. Names are still being taken for the society’s trip to Wales from August 19th to 23rd. The annual mass at Ogulla Shrine will take place on Friday, June 26th at 7 p.m.. The Mass is a traditional highlight in the calendar of the local community and this year will be no exception. In anticipation of the Mass, volunteers are required for a clean-up of the shrine on Friday, June 19th from 8 p.m.. All help would be greatly appreciated.
Well done to the St. Mary’s U-14 girls who played Northern Harps last week in Ballinameen and acquitted themselves very well. Congratulations to all the team and their mentors.

Well done to Grace Jones and the Roscommon camogie team on their second win in the All-Ireland Junior Championship. The side defeated Kildare at the weekend by 4-12 to 2-10. Meanwhile, well done to all the Tulsk camogie players who took part in the end of year primary schools’ camogie blitz last week at Ballinameen GAA Club.

Well done to Devan Curran on winning gold in the Long Jump at the Community Games county final field events recently. Meanwhile, good luck to all the Tulsk representatives at the Tulsk Community Games handwriting county finals on Wednesday, June 10th at 7 p.m. in Kilbride Community Centre. There are competitions for U-10, U-12 and U-14 girls and boys. Entry fee is €5, cash only. Paper is supplied, though competitors are advised to bring their own pencils.
The annual Social Inclusion GAA outing takes place on Saturday, July 4th with visits to Dan O’Hara’s Cottage in Clifden and Glengowla Mines in Oughterard. The touring party will depart from Tulsk GAA grounds at 7 a.m. that morning, returning later that evening. The cost of the trip is €95 which is all inclusive of bus tour, tickets, breakfast and evening meal. Ulidia 8 or the Eighth International Conference on the Ulster Cycle of Tales will take place in the Rathcroghan Visitor Centre in Tulsk from Tuesday, June 23rd to Thursday, June 25th. This conference focuses on many aspects of Celtic studies relating to the Ulster Cycle, including archaeology, philology, folklore, literature and history.
Sincere sympathy is extended to the family of Padraig Hester from Vale View, Lisalway who passed away on Monday, May 25th. Funeral Mass took place in St. Paul's Church Kilmurry on Thursday, May 28th at 12 noon with burial afterwards in Rathmoyle Cemetery. May he rest in peace.
