New four week block of fun exercise classes called (Smooth Movers) starts Tuesday, August 4th at the Lisnamult Sports Centre at10 a.m. with a mixture of seated/standing/walking/flexing/dance, lots of fun and laughs, all gentle and suitable for everyone, all welcome. There's nothing quite like a summer evening at the races, and a cracking seven-race National Hunt card takes place at Roscommon Racecourse on Tuesday, August 4th with the first race off at 5.25 p.m.. Cemetery Masses will be held at St. Coman’s Cemetery on Saturday, August 15th at 7 p.m. and at Cloontuskert on Sunday, August 10th at 6 p.m..
A free three week activator poles programme at Roscommon Town Library will take place on August 4th, 11th & 18th at 6 p.m. to learn the correct activator poles technique. Once the programme has been completed activator poles can be borrowed from Roscommon Library, just like borrowing a book. Places are limited and booking is essential.
Mary’s Meals will hold its annual Step by Step to Feed the Next Child - walk to Knock from August 7th to 15th. Walkers will arrive in Roscommon Town around 4.30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 12th on their way to Knock and leave at 8.30 a.m. on Thursday, August 13th, heading towards Ballymoe village. Please come out and encourage the walkers, and if you’re able to do so, donate in the buckets or visit marysmeals.ie to donate online. It costs just €22 to feed a child for a whole school year, and 11c provides one school meal. All donations, big or small, are very welcome.
Couples celebrating their silver, ruby, golden, diamond, platinum or other wedding anniversaries are invited to attend one of two jubilee Masses, along with their families and friends on either Sunday, October 4th at 2.30 p.m. in Ballaghaderreen Cathedral or Sunday, October 11th at 2.30 p.m. in Kiltoom Church. Bishop Kevin will celebrate both Masses. Light refreshments will be served afterwards for all in attendance. As each couple celebrating an anniversary will receive a certificate from Bishop Kevin, they are asked to register their details at www.achonryelphin.ie

The annual jumble/cake sale in aid of Crumlin Children’s Hospital will be held at Roscommon Agricultural Show on Saturday, August 15th. Donations of saleable items, toys, ornaments etc. much appreciated. Contact Bridget on 087 9773338.
A gentle and welcoming shared reading group meets at Roscommon Library, open to people living with dementia and their carers. Come along to relax, enjoy listening to stories of local history or any topic, and share a cup of tea in a friendly, supportive setting.
