A fundraising social night will take place in the Four Provinces, Rathallen on Friday, August 21st. Music by John Molloy. ‘A Pun Party! Everybody Invited’ is a new book by Boyle’s Colm Lynagh. This is a book so full of puns it should probably come with a groan warning. It is available now on Amazon. The book is packed with themed puns--from anglers to plumbers, flowers to trees and many more. It celebrates a playful, humorous side of English. It is suitable for those who like clever wordplay and for those learning English who want to understand how idioms, puns and double meanings really work.
Recent winners of the Boyle Celtic 50/50 draw were Sabrina Hannon-Kerins and Michael Kerins, who won €1500. Following their league title success, the men's masters team face Roscommon United in the RDFL Masters Cup final at 7.30 p.m. on Saturday, August 22nd at RDFL Grounds, Lecarrow.

King House will host the Big Dig on Friday, August 21st from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.. The Big Dig by the School of Irish Archaeology is a free hands-on, simulated archaeological excavation experience where children aged 5 to 12 unearth replica ‘Viking House’ treasures and learn about medieval history from professional archaeologists. Tickets: are free but booking is advised.
Úna Bhán Tourism presents an evening of music and stories, ‘One Voice, One Europe: An Evening with Charlie McGettigan’ on September 4th, at 6 p.m. in King House. UCD graduate and long-serving museum guide, Thomas Campbell, will deliver a complimentary lecture exploring the King family dynasty, societal change in Ireland during the 17th and 18th centuries, life in the big house, the Connaught Rangers, and the magnificent architecture of King House on August 19th from 3 p.m. – 4 p.m. in King House.
