TULSK

LARGE CROWDS ATTEND LOCAL CEMETERY MASSES

Well done to everyone associated with the organisation of last Sunday’s annual Cemetery Mass in Tulsk Cemetery, which was held in beautiful sunlit conditions. There was a large crowd in attendance for what is one of the biggest events in the community and this year was no exception. The Mass was celebrated by Fr. John who at the outset recalled the names of those interred in the cemetery since the last Mass twelve months ago. He also acknowledged the work of the cemetery committee, Tom and Marguerite Tighe for the use of the stand for the altar, the Rural Social Scheme members, led by Sheridan Quinn for their ongoing work, brothers Tom and Denis Lane for their amplification and as well as reader Liz Quigley and members of the choir who helped make the day another very special occasion, particularly for those who have loved one’s interred in the cemetery. Mass in Kilcooley will take place on Sunday, July 14th, again at 11.30 a.m.. Two buckets will be available at all cemetery masses, one for the weekly contributory envelopes and another for the upkeep of each respective cemetery as funds are needed for their general upkeep.
