Busy regional road now partially reopened

A stop/go system is now in place.
A road, temporarily closed due to flooding from Lough Funshinagh, has now partially reopened.
The Curraghboy to Athleague road at Carrick, Curraghboy had been closed to traffic and now has a stop go system in place.
A section of the south bound lane remains closed and the fields at either side of the road remain flooded. Flood defences and pumps around an affected property also are still in place.
In April Roscommon County Council announced that the R-362 at Coolnageer, Curraghboy, would close from Friday April 12th for “the minimum period necessary”. There were fears that the road could remain completely closed for moths.
When contacted Roscommon County Council said: "After the floodwaters receded along the R-362 route between Athleague and Curraghboy, spanning the Carrick and Coolnageer townlands, Roscommon County Council has implemented a controlled traffic light system to reopen the road for traffic. These traffic lights will be operational for a brief period to regulate speed on this stretch of road and facilitate the completion of clean-up efforts in the vicinity."
