A car stopped in County Roscommon in recent days "came with none of the seasonal essentials", according to local Gardaí.
The car, which was stopped in Castlerea, had no insurance, no tax or no NCT.
The vehicle was seized, and proceedings have commenced.
In a festive message, Gardaí said: "Christmas wish lists are great — but insurance, tax and NCT aren't optional extras".
