Carrick-in-Shannon to feature on Nationwide

Tomorrow evening, Wednesday, September 2nd, will see RTE"s Nationwide coming from Carrick-on-Shannon on a very special day for the town.
The President of Ireland recently paid a visit to the county town to congratulate the community on being named Ireland's Tidiest Town 2025.
Presenter Richard Downes was there to witness the celebrations as local people gathered to welcome Uachtarán na hÉireann and mark this outstanding achievement.
Reporter Tommy Stenson met with some of the volunteers whose hard work helped to win the prestigious title. He hears about some of the projects that helped to secure the win and of the community effort behind the achievement.
Richard also took a tour of the town and visited places of interest including St George's Heritage Centre where stories of the town's past are told, and the Costello Memorial Chapel, located in the heart of the town and recognised as one of the smallest chapels in the world.
The programme will broadcast tomorrow evening on RTE1 at 7 p.m..
