Elderly woman’s handbag stolen

Roscommon Gardaí are seeking information after a handbag was stolen from an elderly woman in broad daylight.
On Saturday, July 19th, a woman in her 80s was shopping at Tesco, Roscommon. While putting her groceries into the car, she put her handbag in on the back seat of her white 142 Toyota Aygo.
She was then approached by a male to assist her with her shopping, which she declined. The male then walked around her car, opened and shut the back door of her car and walked away. She was then approached by another male to distract her, Roscommon Gardaí said. She finished putting her shopping into the car and proceeded to Supervalu. She subsequently realised that her handbag and its contents had been taken from the back seat of the car.
Gardaí in Roscommon Town are continuing to investigate this theft and are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
