Former Garda Station sells at online auction for double asking price
The former garda station in Ballymoe, which was sold at an online auction last week.
The former Ballymoe Garda Station has been sold via an online auction for double its guide price.
The detached building of approximately 41 square metres was sold by O'Donnellan and Joyce Auctioneers. The guide price for the property was €45,000, but in an online auction it sold for €90,000.
Sitting on around 0.27-acres of a site, the property includes an office area, along with kitchen and toilet facilities.
Located on the Galway–Roscommon border, the former Garda Station dates from the 1990s, but closed back in 2013.
The property was handed over to the Office of Public Works pending expressions of interest from community groups for alternative uses.
