Thousands of euro has been raised for two Roscommon teenagers, in the ‘SAVE George & Isaac’s HEARTS’ campaign.

The campaign has already raised more than €120,000 for George and Isaac Naughton, so that they can avail of a new treatment to keep their hearts healthy.

In 2012, brothers George, Isaac and Archie Naughton were diagnosed with DMD, a progressive muscle-wasting disease for which there is no treatment and no cure. Sadly, Archie passed away from the disease in July 2022 at just 16 years of age.

However, the new treatment, which was described as a “miracle”, is available in the US but it is expensive. The campaign aims to raise €650,000 for the Roscommon twins.

“Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is a catastrophic muscle wasting disease. Unfortunately, at the moment there is no treatment available for them yet, that can treat the underlying cause of the disease,” the fundraiser said. “Duchenne affects every muscle in the body and the boys are now paralysed. They need help and support with all activities of daily living. Their bodies become weaker with every passing day.”

As part of this, Roscommon teenager Daniel McGarry is shaving his mullet, which he has been growing for the past 4 years. He has already raised more than €2,000 and all the donations will go to Join Our Boys.
