Leitrim Volunteer Service has described popular Roscommon businessman Padraig Glancy (59), whose sudden death has shocked the local community, as a “tremendous supporter of volunteering and community initiatives across the area”.
The volunteer service said it was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Mr Glancy, who was owner of Glancy's SuperValu and post office in Cortober.
In an online message, the service said: “His generosity, kindness and willingness to support local causes meant so much to so many. Only last weekend, he was once again supporting our Team Hope Shoebox Appeal collection, helping us to bring a little Christmas joy to children around the world.
“His support for volunteering and the wider community will not be forgotten. He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing and working with him.
“On behalf of everyone at Leitrim Volunteer Centre, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, colleagues and all who knew him at this very sad time,” the message concluded.
