Paddy Joe Burke is selling his barber shop in Roscommon Town after 52 years.

One of County Roscommon most well-known personalities — legendary barber and GAA supporter Paddy Joe Burke — is to call time on his barber shop in Roscommon Town after 52 years in business.

The premises on Church Street, which Paddy Joe moved into in 1972 — has been put on the market by local auctioneer, John Earley.

Speaking to the Roscommon Herald, Paddy Joe revealed that he will cut his last strand of hair once the premises has been sold.

“The time has arrived for Paddy Joe to party,” he said.

“I’ve been touched, moved, and inspired by the man in the chair. Every emotion that can be expressed has been done so inside these four walls. It has been a privilege to meet and listen to some of the most wonderful people anyone could meet.

“The two things that can spoil our day are indecision and hurry. But I’ve finally made my decision. As I always say, the best is yet to come,” he concluded.
