A litter prosecution was withdrawn by Roscommon County Council at a sitting of Roscommon District Court.
Marian Peci Jnr, aged 30, with a former address at Apt 1 Castle View, Castle Street, Roscommon Town and 1 Glenview, Roscommon, but now in custody, was being prosecuted by the council for an alleged hybrid littering offence in the county town. Solicitor for Roscommon County Council, Cian Nihill led council litter warden Danny McHugh in his evidence before Judge James Faughnan.
Mr McHugh said on July 28th, 2025, two prams, one child’s car seat, and a bag of domestic waste were found outside the Hospice Shop on Castle Street, Roscommon Town. The court heard that evidence suggested that the accused was responsible. A fine was issued but not paid.
Judge Faughnan accepted jurisdiction, and the matter was let stand to confirm the identity of the accused. Once it was clarified that the accused, who was not present, was in custody serving a sentence, the prosecution was withdrawn.
