Local dog Rua is seeking your vote in Nose of Tralee Competition

A much-loved local dog from Elphin, Co. Roscommon is hoping to win the hearts of voters as he competes to become Roscommon's representative in Ireland's popular Nose of Tralee competition.

Rua, a charming and mischievous mixed-breed dog known for his expressive ears, playful personality and love of cuddles, has entered the first stage of the competition and is asking the people of Roscommon for their support.

The Nose of Tralee, organised by Pet Sitters Ireland, celebrates dogs from across the country, with contestants competing for county titles before progressing to later stages of the competition.

Rua's family describe him as a dog with a "small body but a huge personality." Whether he is exploring the countryside, supervising local wildlife, digging mysterious holes in the garden, relaxing on the sofa, or posing for photographs, Rua has become a much-loved companion and a source of daily laughter.

"Rua brings joy wherever he goes," said his owner, AnneMarie. "He has a wonderful nature, loves meeting people, and has a knack for making everyone smile. We're delighted to enter him in the competition and hope Roscommon will get behind him."
