Range of events being held in County Roscommon for Men’s Health Week

Communities and organisations across County Roscommon are coming together to mark International Men’s Health Week 2026, May 15th – 19th.
This year’s theme “One Step At A Time - Progress not Perfection”, highlights the importance of supporting men to make relevant lifestyle changes to support their own health and wellbeing. Across County Roscommon, a diverse programme of events will offer men of all ages the chance to engage, learn and to take proactive steps towards better health.
Laurence Gaughan, Regional HSE Project Lead for Men’s Health Week commented: “Men’s Health Week provides an important opportunity to raise awareness of preventable health problems, support men and boys to live healthier lives and encourage them to seek help or treatment at an early stage. In County Roscommon, a very strong partnership has been established across statutory, community and voluntary organisations, all working together to continue to raise awareness of men’s health generally and promote this annual coordinated focus.”
The main events in County Roscommon include a men's health evening at the Boyle Family Resource Centre on Wednesday, June 17 at 7 p.m.. Castlerea Mart is the venue on Thursday, June 18th at 11 a.m. for free Croí health checks, information stands and an opportunity to meet various support services.
The Lough Ree Men's Shed, Kiltoom, will host a men's health seminar with guest speakers on Friday, June 19 at 7 p.m..
Ms. Aisling Dunne, Roscommon Healthy Ireland Co-ordinator remarked: “Roscommon County Council is delighted to work in partnership with the HSE and the many other organisations who have contributed to the calendar of events. The focus this year is on bringing initiatives and services to men at community locations. We hope that as many men as possible will engage with us during the week.”
